Halves and Wholes

At 3 Hearts Farm, we offer the opportunity to purchase half or whole cows, processed to your exact specifications. Whether you're buying for yourself or splitting with friends and family, this is an excellent way to enjoy premium, locally-raised beef at a great value.

Our steers are carefully raised and processed at a family-owned, USDA-inspected facility that we trust. The price for a half or whole cow is based on the hanging weight—a term you might not be familiar with, but we’re more than happy to explain! Typically, our steers, which are harvested at a target live weight of 1,400 lbs, yield a hanging weight of around 850 lbs for a whole cow and 425 lbs for a half. At $6.00 per pound of hanging weight, this price includes all processing costs, dry aging, packaging, and freezing.

For a whole cow, you can expect approximately 450-500 lbs of take-home beef, while a half will provide around 225-250 lbs, depending on how you choose to have your cuts prepared. Opt for bone-in ribeyes, Porterhouses, and roasts, and you'll see a higher take-home weight, with more bone included. Additionally, buying a half or whole allows you to enjoy special cuts like soup bones, perfect for creating hearty broths.

Purchasing in bulk from us offers significant savings, around 25% compared to buying the same amount of beef throughout the year in smaller bundles. To reserve your order, we require a $500 non-refundable deposit, which will be applied to your final balance once the hanging weight is confirmed by the processor.

We also welcome and encourage you to stop by the farm and see firsthand what farm-to-table truly means. Experience the care and commitment that goes into raising our cattle, and feel confident in knowing exactly where your food comes from. If you have any questions or are ready to place an order, we’re here to help guide you through the process. At 3 Hearts Farm, we take pride in providing you with the best farm-to-table experience—one delicious, tender cut at a time.
